Tech Tip #13--Remote KILL Installation Made SIMPLE
Solution The remote control kill switches are sold for many applications. This article addresses the installation for the popular Chinese type ATVs sold. The directions ask you to determine if your system is closed or opened. You are working with a CLOSED system. Basically there is a loop circuit that runs to your safety kill switches located in several places throughout the ATV. You will be splicing into one of the kill engine loop circuits to make your remote control kill switch brain work. We are going to use the Kazuma Mini-Falcon 90 ATV as an example. There is a side kill switch located on left side of the ATV. It operates by a loop wire clip that when attached to a riders belt and the loop wire is pulled it breaks the connection of the two wires running to it and kills the engine. We like to use that same circuit in wiring in the remote control kill switches. You can find the connector under the seat that goes to the side kill switch. You can splice the two wires coming from the brain into one of the atvs wires located at this connector. When you push the remote kill radio control device the brain breaks the connection just like pulling the loop connector side safety switch. When locking the remote control brain device, this breaks the connection also and prevents the ATV from starting. We usually remove the front plastic grill and attach the brain onto the inside of the front fenders. We disregard trying to locate CDIs etc as instructed in the written directions. We believe a neater more professional job is obtained by using the safety kill switch circuits already wired into the ATVs original wiring harness. The green wire is cut and capped coming from the brain. The blue wire and the yellow wires coming from the brain is what is used to connect into your ATV wiring harness.
